Co-Curricular > Athletics
Through the Physical Education curriculum at SWIS, our students learn about movement and they explore the skills associated with the different strands of PE. They are supported and encouraged to enjoy physical activity and to understand that physical activity is an essential aspect of a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle. Through team games and sports, our students also learn the importance of cooperation and teamwork.
In PE, lessons focus on the Units of Inquiry (where appropriate) and are planned within the main areas or stands of:
- Health Related Activities;
- Body Control and Spatial Awareness;
- Athletic Activities;
- Movement to Music;
- Adventure Challenge.
The PE curriculum at SWIS provides all of our students with continuous opportunities to develop their personal skills and performance across a wide range of sports and activities. It also offers a wide range of extra curricular sporting activities through our After School Activities program and participation in competitions with other schools.
Students of all ages at SWIS enjoy taking part in PE lessons and After School Activities in our Gymnasium, Dance Studio and heated indoor Swimming Pool or outdoors on the Athletic Track, the Basketball Courts or the Football Fields.
The highlights of our sporting calendar are the much anticipated Sports Days and Swimming Galas when the children take part in multiple individual and team events in an atmosphere of participation and friendly competition with their peers.
