Craig came to our lovely media center to share his stories and songs with lucky SWIS students from Pre-K to grade 4. Craig is not just an award winning author but also an amazing performer who wows students with music, dance, puppets and catchy rhymes. His stories "Wonky Donkey" and "Square Eyes" were a tremendous hit with our students and faculty! All of Craig's books use animals to tell the stories and the SWIS students were more than happy to come dressed as animals too! Parents were also entertained as Craig showed them the importance of music, fun and play to help make reading even more enjoyable!
Before we knew it, animals had taken over our entire campus! We had our first annual "Wear it Wild" day which was a huge success. Within the MYP, this day was used to help our students engage with and understand the concept of endangered animals around the world. It's a shocking fact that since 1970, populations of wild species have fallen by half. Our MYP students also did a fun QR code scavenger hunt to learn more about endangered animals and help them understand the need for conservation and wildlife protection.
The last event for our "Wear it Wild" day was a school wide book fair! Our favorite! Summer is fast approaching and we all need to stock up on our summer reading books. You don't want to be the only one without new literary adventures and discoveries to discuss when school returns!
