The 1st SWIS Chinese Battle of the Books (BOB) ended successfully on March 12th (Tuesday) this week. The top two teams with 9 students in total are the winners and will represent SWIS, competing with other international schools for the Guangdong province's Chinese Battle of the Books on March 19th in Zhu Hai International School.
The Battle of the books is a live school-on-school battle to find the book trivia champion school. The purpose of this competition is to introduce students to a variety of reading materials, build teamwork skills, and ensure that reading is fun. Students read books first and come together in teams to test their knowledge and trivia of the books they have read. It is similar to the TV series Family Feud styles of competition. However, the rules, content and style of BOB may diverse depending on the educational goals, student needs, and local resources at different schools, districts or countries. It is popular all around the world and can be held in different languages.
The battle of the books, especially the English one, has already won a great reputation in Guangdong Province and many international schools have battled for it. This year, SWIS held the 1st Chinese Battle of the Books for G7 to G10 students. After 4 months' reading and preparation, under the guide of the Chinese teachers, we at last have 5 teams entering the preliminary round and having the opportunity to go to the Final.
On March 12th, five teams battled it out to win two admission tickets for the Guangdong province Chinese Battle of the Books. They competed with enthusiasm at SWIS library. Congratulations to the top two teams: Xiao Mian Qing Jiang （笑面青江）and Wu Ming（无名）. Hopefully they will keep going on to win great honors for themselves and SWIS on March 19th. SWIS ROCS!
