The Middle School 'Festival of Learning' is an important annual school community event, guided by the FOL staff leadership team and hosted by the Secondary Middle School Student Council. It provides an opportunity for all SWIS Middle School students (Grade 6, Grade 7 and Grade 8) to represent their chosen subject in a classroom booth on the Secondary third-floor corridor.
If you are familiar with the Primary PYP Grade 5 Exhibition, do not come expecting that! The Primary PYP Grade 5 Exhibition is a unit of inquiry which has a seven-week investigation/preparation time. The Secondary Middle School Festival of Learning is a large scale reflection prepared in just two days!
FOL objectives are to have Middle School students collaborate with each other across grade levels within a subject booth, celebrate their learning, share their learning, and articulate the learning process through demonstration and explanation to the SWIS community.
The third-floor MYP corridor will be transformed from normal classrooms into a Middle School 'Festival of Learning' exhibition space. Preparations begin in classes, reviewing and reflecting on the year's work, before the Grade 6, Grade 7 and Grade 8 timetable is suspended for three days. This gives our dedicated Middle School students and staff just two days to complete the magical transformation from classroom to FOL subject booth, in time for the FOL exhibition day.
We look forward to seeing you at the FOL 2019 on Thursday 20th June. You are welcome to the 9:00 am Opening Ceremony in the SWIS Theatre, then to visit the subject booths, as you are guided through the MYP by our knowledgeable, open-minded and courageous Middle School students.
